“Red Means Love” (Tetiana Kalivoshkko, 2019-2020)
Printed photography images of deferent faceless couples, wearing gas masks which cover their face, and each
couple is connected with a bright red thread.
The gas masks represented metaphorical masks people are wearing to hide behind every single day; the rules,
restrains, opinions, pre-judgment, religious beliefs and social constrains that people wear. The mask covers the face,
obfuscating the identity, and comes off when alone, or around those who have earned ones trust.
The bright red thread represents all the possible type of love and connection like love between soul mates, lovers,
friends, family members, colleagues, strangers, kids,…
People – from deferent race/ethnicity, gender, social class, social economic status, sexual orientation, abilities,
disabilities, religions, religious beliefs…
Ancient east Asian proverb says that an invisible red thread connects those who are destined to meet, regardless of
time, place, or circumstance. the thread may stretch or tangle but will never break.

Some people are closed and it’s hard for them to show the love that they have some have problems to love.

This art beg the world to take the mask off and tell to all the world who you love without constrains
There is no limits to love
There are no boundaries for love.
The mask is to hide yourself and now with corona time everyone is covering the face and hiding the love hiding
emotion hiding smile hiding sadness cry – its now harder to understand eachother, easier to be afraid ir to wrongly
judge the other.
Its now so much harder to express feeling or to understand ones feeling to the point it is pointless to feel.
I hope people understand the obsitcals and not to dump your feelings your desires wishes dreams hopes the life you
want to live
Day after day it becomes easier to NOT follow your feeling and just stay with the mask – not to care and not to want
to ne loved.
We need to fight for feeling for love fight to understand how ones feel and what and to who to give.
How is the new generation is growing now?
How will they be?
How do we reep the musks and demand from the young generation to not hide the feeling and to fight for love
Will people become robots? Is this the direction the world society is walking to?

The use of the red thread theme was inspired by Ukrainian folk song “Two Colors” .
The Red color symbolize Love in a many cultural folks.
